Turns out the old man's still got it. Bobcats owner and GOAT Michael Jordan turns 50 Sunday, but that didn't stop him from putting a whupping on his prized rookie. Forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist told reporters Friday that Jordan beat him one-on-one not too long ago. From USA Today:
"Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist said Friday in Houston that 49-year-old Jordan beat him in a one-on-one game. Jordan turns 50 Sunday, while Kidd-Gilchrist is seven months away from turning 20.
It was hard for me," Kidd-Gilchrist said before playing in the Rising Stars Challenge rookie-sophomore game Friday night. "I lost. He's the greatest man that ever played the game.
"Oh, yeah. He's good."

Now, granted, this is not really a great matchup. Jordan's jumpshot is likely still wet, despite age taking a few feet off his lift. And MKG is very offensively limited, especially at this point. His jumper is less silk and more "broken pile of tree bark" in terms of smoothness.
Still, that's a 50-year-old working over a 20-year-old, and that means something. Jordan still plays with the Bobcats now and then, still talks about how he can still take on guys. There's a limit, he's human after all, but just barely. Still, with all the talk of him turning 50 and how Kobe Bryant and LeBron James are creeping up on his legacy, it's a nice reminder of Jordan's pure skill.
And how even the kids' super-athleticism can't topple it.
